Odyssey uses state of the art technologies for a perfect combination of hardware and software, 3D volume reconstruction and 3D diagnostics.

Mature technology
GALILEOS is a new 3D X-ray system using cone beam technology that was specifically developed by Sirona and that employs a cone-shaped radiation beam. It permits three-dimensional imaging of the patient’s oral-maxillofacial region, distortion-free, with just one pass of the X-ray detector.

Fast 3D imaging volume
The GALILEOS 3D X-ray scan takes only 14 seconds. The GALILEOS reconstruction program calculates the entire image volume from the data of the 200 individual exposures that are generated with a pulsed scan – after a total of seven minutes the image appears on the screen and is ready for comprehensive diagnostics. With a patient exposure time of 2 – 6 seconds, the pulsed imaging technology leads to a low radiation dose.

Reconstruction with high resolution
The (15 x 15 x 15) cm3 volume is displayed at a resolution of 0.3 mm. Any partial volumes desired can be selected and subsequently reconstructed from the existing data set in a contrast resolution of 0.15 mm without an additional scan.
